why i was forced to leave the tails on the trails show

(so james bond kidnapped me and forced me to fly to france on a private jet....  haha)

these are my rainboots after the tails on the trails arboretum show

mud-splattered from the tips of the toes, up the stripes, and over the blue rim

it was muddy and it was almost as cold as a crisp chicago december day (in the middle of may)

but that's not why i was forced to leave the tails on the trails show after less than two hours

THE SETTING WAS NATURES BEAUTY AT ITS BEST

my tent was facing a gorgeous pond and i could see excited and proud fur parents walking and holding any kind of dog you could imagine -  from great danes to bull dogs to teeny tiny dogs smaller than a nyc rat

the wind was whipping and whirling into my tent
as if it's only desire was to turn my canvas into dorothy and toto's house
flying high in the air until it arrived in the land of oz
with over 200 lbs of weights on my canvas, that wasn't enough
we removed the sides and back of the tent
but then the wind attacked my new display ladders with collars on them - and they started falling

i knew i had to protect the collars that i poured my heart and soul into, lovingly hand crafting for months and months (all in the evenings after working all day at my corporate job and on the weekends)
sadly i had no choice, i had to leave

if you stopped by and i had already left
i sincerely apologize - i sent you an exclusive special if you're a member of the houndsie list

(if you're not part of the list, you can sign up here - go to the left column and click on 'Woof Yes'!)

oh, and here's my tent at the beginning of the show

looks pretty peaceful (kinda) at this point, right?

i've been getting TONS of compliments on the new displays

(my design and my husbands craftsmanship)

so with the craziness of having to leave the show

you must be thinking that i've had it with this outdoor spring show

don't get me wrong, it crossed my mind

WHAT AM I DOING

AM I CRAZY TO DO ALL THIS

AND FOR WHAT?

but even with all the craziness and even with tears in my eyes

I FELT THE LOOOVE

~ the love of my husband, my knight in shining armor,
helping me load the car, unload the car, set up the tent, tear down the tent, load the car and unload the car (most of this all within a few hours and with numb feet and hands)

~ the love of my neighbor vendor and customers as they helped me save the collars - they all chipped in and held parts of my tent and display before they  blew away

~ the love all around of proud fur parents and their pups, hopeful potential fur parents, dog rescue groups with hopeful dogs - looking to find their forever family

it was then, during all the chaos that i suddenly realized

TAILS ON THE TRAILS IS MY FAVORITE SHOW!

* not only do i get to see and talk to you, my dream client

* i get to meet your special puppy

* in a gorgeous natural setting

* surrounded by hopeful families and  dogs looking for their forever home

and that warms my heart to no end

this show is all about loving dogs in god's country

if i did see you today, it was and always is a pleasure

I CAN'T DO WHAT I DO WITHOUT GIVING BACK

10% of proceeds from the show were going to 4 greyhound racers - i did make a few sales, but unfortunately there were no profits after expenses since i had to leave the show so soon :(

however, i donated some gently used collars, leashes and coats for the greyhounds - and i'll also be donating a check from my own  personal funds!

it always feels good to give back :)

what kind of james bond thriller have you been in lately?
